Prospect Street
Overview
The Prospect Street Project is Kent Attainable Housing’s (KAH) initiative to address critical issues in Chestertown’s “uptown” residential district. Through this and future projects, KAH aims to transform these neighborhoods by creating affordable homes and fostering long-term community growth, one street at a time.
Key Objectives
Address Blight: Replace deteriorated structures and vacant lots with vibrant, livable spaces.
Build Secure, Affordable Housing: Prioritize homes that meet the needs of local families.
Revitalize the Community: Bring new life to the neighborhood through thoughtful construction and long-term planning.
Project Timeline
2024: Host community meetings to discuss housing and other improvements on Prospect Street.
2025: Begin new construction on Prospect Street to deliver modern, affordable homes and rejuvenate the area.
2026: Expand efforts with additional projects and local partnerships, including the Town of Chestertown and Washington College, laying the groundwork for sustained community development and revitalization.
Funding Support
This initiative was supported by government grants from the Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Maryland Dept of Housing and Community Development (DHCD), the Town of Chestertown, and many local business and individual donors.
This critical funding enables KAH to continue its mission of revitalizing neighborhoods and addressing urgent housing needs in Chestertown and beyond.
Local Impact
KAH’s work on Prospect Street is already making a meaningful difference. By providing affordable housing options and working with local partners and neighbors, the project is creating a more vibrant and secure community.
