KAH Awarded FY2026 Community Reinvestment and Repair Grant to Expand Financial Literacy Programs
Kent Attainable Housing (KAH) is honored to announce that we have been selected as a recipient of funding through the Fiscal Year 2026 Community Reinvestment and Repair Fund (CRRF), administered locally by the Kent County Local Management Board (KCLMB).
The Community Reinvestment and Repair Fund was established through Maryland's Cannabis Reform Act of 2023 and directs a portion of adult-use cannabis tax revenue toward community-based initiatives that promote equity, opportunity, and well-being in low-income communities and communities disproportionately impacted by past cannabis enforcement policies.
KAH is proud to be among fourteen organizations selected to receive funding through this highly competitive grant process. This year, KCLMB received 25 applications requesting more than $665,000 in funding, while only $120,000 was available for distribution. Following a comprehensive review process, the KCLMB Program Committee, Local Management Board, and Kent County Commissioners approved funding for programs that align with local community priorities and the goals of the Maryland Office of Social Equity.
Our award will support the expansion of financial literacy sessions designed to help individuals and families strengthen their financial foundations, prepare for homeownership, and achieve long-term housing stability.
At Kent Attainable Housing, we understand that creating affordable housing opportunities requires more than constructing homes. Financial education is a critical component of sustainable homeownership and economic mobility. Through these sessions, participants will gain practical knowledge in areas such as budgeting, credit management, savings strategies, debt reduction, and financial planning—tools that can help families make informed decisions and build generational wealth.
This funding directly supports our mission of providing pathways to stable, attainable housing for working families throughout Kent County. By combining affordable housing development with educational resources and support services, we strive to empower residents to achieve lasting success.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the Kent County Local Management Board, Kent County Commissioners, and the State of Maryland for their investment in community-driven solutions that strengthen families and neighborhoods. We are also grateful to our partners, volunteers, supporters, and community members who continue to believe in and advance our mission.
As Kent Attainable Housing continues to expand its impact through projects such as our recently completed Prospect Street Duplex and upcoming developments in the Butlertown community, this funding will help ensure that we are not only building homes but also providing the knowledge and resources families need to thrive within them.
We look forward to sharing more information about our upcoming financial literacy programming and the opportunities it will create for residents across Kent County.
Together, we are building stronger pathways to housing stability, homeownership, and opportunity.
